Raj Bhavan in association with Green World Clean World Foundation, Kerala organised a programme to inaugurate a Jackfruit Garden to commemorate 71st Birthday of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Raj Bhavan will be having a garden of 71 Ayur Jackfruit saplings planted in 1000 sq. mtrs. of land. The first sapling was planted by Hon’ble Governor Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai in the distinguished presence of the Chairman of Green World Clean World Foundation Shri George Kulangara and Shri Tarun Vijay Chairman of the National Monuments Authority.
2. Ayur Jackfruit is an indigenously developed special jackfruit variety by Green World Clean World Foundation. It can start yielding fruit between one to two years and grows to a height of 21 feet. It gives yield twice a year. Jackfruit trees are excellent source of continuous supply of oxygen throughout the year and have excellent nutrition value.
3. The Technical Team from Green World Clean World Foundation have demonstrated the technical aspects of its plantation and will be training the Raj Bhavan staff in the plantation and nursing of these jackfruit trees.
4. Hon’ble Governor commended the efforts of the Foundation to develop and propogate this special variety of fruit all over the country. He thanked the foundation for adding value to the forest coverage in Raj Bhavan.
