On 16th September, 2021 on the eve of the 71st Birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Governor Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai announced financial assistance from the Discretionary Fund to 71 social service NGOs (old-age homes/destitute homes/orphanages) and for 71 patients undergoing dialysis treatment. This is a unique initiative undertaken by Raj Bhavan to reach out to a wider section of weak and under privileged people.
2.In response to the announcement, a good number of individuals and institutions have applied for financial aid. Raj Bhavan now has decided to have an inaugural programme to disburse aid to individuals and institutions on 8th October, 2021 at 3.30 p.m.in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan. The event will be graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa as the Chief Guest and Hon’ble Minister for Revenue, Leader of Opposition, His Grace Archbishop and His Holiness Tapobhoomi as Guests of Honour.
3. Besides the distribution of financial aid, Hon’ble Governor will be undertaking field visits to the institutions to meet and interact with the inmates of the old age homes/destitute homes/orphanages during the months of October and November.
4. As part of Green World, Clean World programme, on 12th October, 2021 to commemorate the 71st Birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Raj Bhavan will undertake plantation of 71 Jackfruit saplings in the garden of Raj Bhavan. This is a Vietnam imported variety of Jackfruit that bears fruits within a period of one year.
