Nomination as Ambassador for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
On 2nd October, 2014, Smt. Mridula Sinha, Governor, was nominated as the ambassador of ’Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi
The Hon’ble Prime Minister nominated Smt. Mridula Sinha, Governor, as one of his nominees for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. In pursuit of this programme, the Governor held a series of meetings with different sections of the society. The photo shows her addressing representatives of various voluntary organizations and Government officers at Raj Bhavan on 30.9.2014, when she highlighted the importance and relevance of the Clean India Mission. She advised the people to maintain cleanliness at all places.

ADOPTION OF 5 CITIES TO BE MADE MODEL CITIES OF CLEANLINESS AND RELATED ACTIVITIES.
It is the desire of Hon’ble Governor that Goa should become the cleanest State in the country.
Adoptation of 5 cities, viz, Panaji, Mapusa, Ponda, Margao and Vasco, for being made Model Cities of Cleanliness, is an important initiative taken by her in this regard. Accordingly, Clean Missions for these cities were planned and inaugurated by her and Co-ordination Committees with MLAs from the respective areas, and others from different fields, were set up to pursue the activities.
‘Clean Panjim Mission’:
On 23.6.2015, as part of the strategy of making 5 cities as Model Cities of Cleanliness the Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the “Clean Panjim Mission”
‘Clean Mapusa Mission’:
The Mission was inaugurated at Mapusa on 21.12.2015 at a function organized by the Mapusa Municipal Council. Shri Francis D’Souza, Hon’ble MLA from Mapusa, Chairman and Councillors of the civic body, Co-ordination Committee members, citizens and school children were present on the occasion. The Hon’ble Governor called upon the citizens to actively participate in the SBA and make Goa the cleanest State, as soon as possible. She administered the SBA pledge to those who were present, followed by a cleanliness drive led by her.
‘ Clean Ponda Mission’
‘The Clean Ponda Mission’ was inaugurated on 14.1.2016 at a function held at Ponda, where the Chairperson of the Ponda Municipal Council, Councillors, a large number of people and students of the Govt. Engineering College, were present. In her address, the Hon’ble Governor expressed appreciation over the good work being done by the Council and urged the citizens to contribute their mite to the cause of cleanliness.
‘Clean Margao Mission’
The ‘Clean Margao Mission’ was inaugurated by Hon’ble Governor on 19.2.2016 at a function at Margao, where Shri Digambar Kamat, Hon’ble MLA, Chairperson and Councillors of the Margao Municipal Council and a large number of citizens were present. The function was preceded by a cleanliness drive led by Shri Digambar Kamat. After the function, the Hon’ble Governor led another cleanliness drive. In her speech, the Hon’ble Governor expressed happiness over the enthusiasm and spirit shown by the people in making Margao clean and beautiful. She urged them to carry forward their mission with renewed spirit and determination so as to make the SBA a great success. She administered SBA pledge to the audience.
‘Clean Vasco Mission’
The Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the ‘Clean Vasco Mission’ on 26.2.2016 at Vasco, where Shri J.L. Carlos Almeida, Hon’ble MLA, Chairman, Councillors of the Mormugoa Municipal Council, around 800 students and citizens were present. The function was followed by a cleanliness drive led by Hon’ble Governor. In her speech, the Hon’ble Governor appreciated the work being done by the Municipal Council and called upon the people to make the city clean and healthy. A group of children demonstrated a programme highlighting the importance of cleanliness.
